Rio Ferdinand predictions on table

Former Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand has predicted that both Arsenal and Liverpool will miss out on the Champions League qualification next season.

If this is the case, this will be the first time since the arrival of Arsene Wenger that the Gunners will not be participating in the Champions League.

In his opinion, it will be Chelsea, Manchester City, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspurs that will qualify for the Champions League. He believes that Arsenal and Liverpool are too inconsistent at the moment to make it in the top four.

Rio Ferdinand said that Chelsea has been magnificent since the start of the season and that there is no doubt that they will be Champion at the end of the season. However, he is not so sure on the ranking of the teams that will be below them.

At the moment Tottenham Hotspurs seem to be the team that is in form, and he believes that the ranking will be determined by the results in the direct games opposing the teams. (more…)

FERDINAND PRAISES MICHEAL CARRICK

Rio Ferdinand has spoken to Paul Pogba about his time at Manchester United and revealed just how influential Michael Carrick has been.

Carrick started the season as a bit-part player under Jose Mourinho but having just started his third game in a week in Man United’s 2-0 win over West Brom.

Fans have long had a deep appreciation for Carrick and by the looks of it Pogba shares that admiration.

Speaking about Pogba and Carrick in his column for The Sunday Times, Ferdinand said: “There is a long list to which we need to add Paul Pogba’s name, and that is of team-mates who have appreciated Michael Carrick.

“I have spoken to Pogba about it, and Carrick has set him free.

“Pogba had a prickly start to his second United career but now he is looking like his real self and it’s down to several factors. (more…)

RIO FERDINAND PRAISES UNITED UNDER MOURINHO

Rio Ferdinand heaped praise on Manchester United under Jose Mourinho.

The former Manchester United defender has commended the effort of the Portuguese tactician, who succeeded Louis van Gaal in May.

He congratulated Mourinho on his Facebook page stating that the Portuguese man is warmly welcome to the “biggest club in the world” and assured that his arrival at Old Trafford will be the most exciting job of his managerial career.

The Englishman reckons Mourinho has helped bring confidence back into the club due to how courageous the players perform on the pitch since he took over. “The biggest positive change for the Red Devils apart from the players they have bought, is the mentality shift,” Ferdinand told talkSPORT.

Ferdinand also insists Mourinho is able, willing and ready to turn fifth-placed Manchester United into a team capable of winning titles once again, despite being sacked by Chelsea on December 17 after a disappointing start to the campaign.

Manchester United should appoint Jose Mourinho according to Rio Ferdinand

Former Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand has stated that Manchester United should consider replacing Louis van Gaal during the summer.

The best choice will be to go for Jose Mourinho according to Ferdinand. He said that the Portuguese manager has the know-how and the experience needed to manage a team of this stature.

Rio Ferdinand believes that if the club wants to replace Louis van Gaal in the summer, they should make the move now especially with Jose Mourinho free. He added that a manager of this quality will not remain without a job for a long time, and they should make the move now.

Louis van Gaal has stated that he will still be the manager of Manchester United next season, but Rio Ferdinand does not seem to agree. For him, Mourinho will definitely be an upgrade over Louis van Gaal, and he wants to see the board sign the Portuguese manager. (more…)

Tottenham Hotspur might have a new look to it the next season

The first team squad of Tottenham Hotspur might have a new look to it the next season as they are planning to offload all those players who, according to them, are not going to be that important for the club in the longer run.

The performance of a lot of ‘expensive’ Spurs’ players especially the strikers was pretty disappointing the previous season.

Barring Harry Kane, who was a shining light for the Londoners, nobody showed the greatest of forms.

And, that’s why; the management is looking for some shuffling to be made in the set up.

Some big names including the likes of Paulinho and Soldado would be making their way out.

There are interests for Soldado from Turkey, while, Paulinho’s wanted in Italy.

The Spurs are also believed to be willing to get rid of Emmanuel Adebayor, but, they might struggle to find a buyer for him.

Aaron Lennon has also hinted about his desire to be transferred to Everton, but, Tottenham is not having any settlement with the Toffees regarding the transfer fee. (more…)

NEW LOW FOR RIO

The career of Rio Ferdinand is reaching a new low as the English defender has not managed to settle in and properly adapt to life outside of Manchester United after he left Old Trafford and joined Queens Park Rangers.

Rio Ferdinand was suspended for 3 Premier League matches due to a twitter message that he sent to a twitter user.

After the Twitter user sent the message “Maybe QPR will sign a good CB they need one”, Ferdinand replied by saying “get ya mum in, plays the field well son! #sket”

The word ‘’sket’’ refers to a promiscuous girl or woman and this was the main reason on why Rio Ferdinand was suspended for 3 Premier League matches as well as also having to pay a fine of £25,000.  The Football Association (FA) was the governing body and authority that suspended Rio Ferdinand as the football authority stated that a soccer figure such as Rio Ferdinand is an experienced twitter user who has over 5 million followers and he is viewed as a role model for many people and the ‘’sket’’ message that the English defender delivered isn’t the proper way to respond for someone who is a role for many people around the world and FA decided to sanction Ferdinand.

The manager of Queens Park Rangers, Harry Redknapp has admitted that his team has been performing better without having Rio Ferdinand in the squad.

‘’It’s been difficult. He’s come from a team used to winning every week and everything to a team out of the championship and has found it more difficult.  So it’s a more difficult period. Maybe he wasn’t getting an awful lot of protection in the early games either. I think we’ve looked more solid recently but no, I’ve got no problems with Rio’’ Harry Redknapp told reporters.

This is not the way that the experienced defender wanted to spend the last few seasons of his career as he went through from being one of the best players in his position during his time at Old Trafford to being on the sidelines of a club that is located on the bottom relegation zone of the Premier League and his own manager is saying that the team has been performing better without him.

FERDINAND TWEET BAN

Former Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand recently received a three match ban from the English FA for his comments on the social networking site.

Ferdinand, who is one of the active footballers on Twitter, recently got involved in a war of words with another user. The 35-year-old directed an obscene word at the user after he was subjected to intense criticism for his poor performances since joining QPR on a free transfer in the summer. Even though the comments were made outside football, the FA has decided to take action against the former England international.

QPR have been one of the poorest teams in the division and they could have done with the experience of the former England man for the upcoming games against Chelsea, even if for one of them he was able to go to a Wedding in Manchester instead!

However, manager Harry Redknapp will now have to do without the player over the next few weeks. This is not the first time Ferdinand has been punished by the FA for his comments on twitter. He made remarks about Ashley Cole a few years ago that appeared to be racist in nature. Redknapp, though, has praised Ferdinand by saying that he is one of the finest persons he knows. He says that the ban is unfair since it was an interaction between two individuals outside the game.

“If someone slags him off and he goes back and slags them off, it doesn’t equate. I can’t see it. We’ve not seen the FA report so we really can’t comment. We’re not sure exactly what he’s done and what the charge is and what the reasons are behind it. So until we see that, and I’ve not seen it, we’re not in a position to comment on it. I’ve not spoken to Phil [QPR’s chief executive Philip Beard], the chairman or Rio about it,” said Harry Redknapp.

LIFE IS COMPLICATED

Manchester United’s season has seen them losing 10 times on 32 matches which is more than what they lost in the entire past season. This is almost the same squad that won the Premier League during the previous campaign.

It is not the dream debut season that David Moyes wished to have happened since his appointment as the head coach of Manchester United but they have slowly been starting to pick themselves up and bounce back from the atrocious season. (more…)

UNITED ROLL OVER

Rio Ferdinand’s latest appearance with Manchester United was during the Champions League match against Olympiakos as the team of David Moyes suffered from yet another disappointing result but this time around it wasn’t a negative outcome from the Premier League but from the Champions League.

The entire Manchester United squad that played against Olympiakos was mediocre to say the least but Rio Ferdinand was just disastrous throughout the entire match as he launched long passes to the opponents and gave away the ball just way too much.

It was yet another sign that Ferdinand displayed as he is not the played he once used to be and its further evidence that he is reaching the end of his career with the Premier League club, with only a few months left on his contract and after making such a below par performance it seems highly unlike that David Moyes will be featuring Ferdinand on his starting lineup unless someone gets injured and the Scottish coach has no choice but to use Ferdinand.

Ferdinand will form part of a number of players that David Moyes will be offloading in the summer along with Nemanja Vidic and Patrice Evra’s future still remains uncertain. Shinji Kagawa is another player that has not been enjoying the best of time with Manchester United and he is candidate on leaving the club at the end of the season as well.

Thomas Vermaelen is a high profile target of Manchester United as Moyes wants to bring him to the club as a replacement of Nemanja Vidic and the Belgium defender has already stated his desire to leave Arsenal as he has fallen behind of the pecking order of Arsene Wenger who prefers using Per Mertesacker and Laurent Koscielny at the heart of the defence.

RIO IS GOING

Manchester United manager David Moyes has rejected rumours that defender Rio Ferdinand is set to retire from football at the end of the season. The 35-year-old of out of contract in the summer and there has been no talk of a new deal from the club. He has been linked with a move to the MLS in the last few months, but Ferdinand has been hinting recently that he may consider stepping into football management because it is something he has always wanted to do. Ferdinand has been taking his coaching badges, which will allow him to become a football manager.

A number of experienced players have been linked with an exit from the club in the last few months, as Moyes is reportedly targeting his own team. Nemanja Vidic, Patrice Evra, and Ryan Giggs are some of the players linked with an exit. United are expected to spend a huge amount of money in the summer to rebuild the squad. They already spent a massive chunk of it on Chelsea midfielder Juan Mata, who has been brought to the club for £ 37.1 million. This has broken the previous transfer record of £ 30.1 million set by Dimitar Berbatov in 2008.

United are set to miss out on the Champions league next season.

“I can only tell you that what was written today was a load of rubbish, complete nonsense. We’ve got a chance of a few days away. We’ll see. We’ll go and try to have a few days away and get ready. We’ve got a big Champions League game coming up in just over a week’s time,” said Moyes. “Must be another slow news day. come on Neil Custis get ya head out ya Y-fronts!,” said Ferdinand through his Twitter account.

Ferdinand has not featured for United since November.
